The leaders took Jesus to Pilate, the Roman ruler. Pilate asked lots of questions and said, “I don't find anything wrong with this man.”
Every Passover, Pilate let one prisoner go free. He asked the crowd, “Should I let Jesus go, or Barabbas?” Barabbas had done bad things.
The crowd shouted, “Barabbas! Crucify Jesus!” Pilate was afraid of the crowd, so he let Barabbas go and sent Jesus to die.
Key Verse
All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.Isaiah 53:6, ESV
