King Saul wanted to hurt David. David was scared and asked Jonathan for help.
Jonathan made a plan. “I'll find out if my dad still wants to hurt you. I'll shoot arrows in the field. If I tell my helper the arrows are far away, you must run.”
Saul was still angry. Jonathan shot the arrows far. Then the two friends hugged and cried. David ran to be safe.
