King Ahaz was scared. Two armies were coming to attack his city. God sent the prophet Isaiah to tell him, “Don't be afraid. Ask God for a sign!”
But Ahaz would not ask. He didn't really want to trust God.
So Isaiah said, “God will give you a sign anyway! A young woman will have a baby boy, and His name will be Immanuel.” Immanuel means “God with us.” Jesus is Immanuel. He is God who came to be with us!
Key Verse
Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.Isaiah 7:14, ESV
